Comparing verification methods
You can enable up to four methods to verify your users.
Enabling more methods should allow more people to be able to verify their identity.
You can also combine several methods for increased confidence or to satisfy more than one use case (like proof of identity and proof of address in one check).
Coverage | Speed | Requirements | |
---|---|---|---|
Bank account | UK and Europe | Nearly instant | Online bank account |
Photo ID | Global | Nearly instant | UK passport, driving licence or provisional driving licence |
Biometric vouching | Global | Slower | Confirmation from a referee |
Documents | Global | Nearly instant | Photographed paper documents or PDF uploads |
Bank account
The user connects a personal bank account.
Most banks that offer PSD2 APIs in the UK and Europe are supported.
Photo ID
The user scans a photo ID. They can use these forms of ID:
- Passport
- UK driving licence
- UK provisional driving licence
Biometric vouching
The user provides the details of a referee they know. The referee verifies their own identity, then confirms that the the user is who they say they are, and has provided accurate information.
We conduct extra anti-fraud checks with this method. For example, we confirm both video selfies are from different people.
Documents
Letters like utility bills, birth, educational and marriage certificates.
Valuable for proof of address.
You can decide exactly which documents you want to accept for each workflow.
