Glide
Here’s how to integrate Vouchsafe with Glide, a popular service for creating apps. To do this, we’ll be using the popular automation tool Zapier.
If you’d prefer, you can check out our video tutorial instead:
We recommend following this guide on a computer. The screen location of UI elements will be different on mobile.
We talk through steps you need to take in Zapier and Glide, but these may change. If you run into difficulty, email [email protected].
Preparation
Before getting started, we recommend you have:
- A Vouchsafe team
- A Zapier account
- An app created in Glide
Create webhook in Zapier
First, you need to get a webhook from Zapier. To do this:
- Go to your Zapier home screen.
- Select + Create near the top of the left sidebar, then Zaps from the list.
- Select the Trigger button, then Webhooks by Zapier from the options.
- Select Choose an event under Trigger event in the right-hand Select the event section.
- Then select Catch Hook, and hit Continue, then Continue again.
- Select the Copy button under Your webhook URL.
Leave Zapier open in a browser tab or window.
The Catch Hook section looks like this:
Add webhook to Vouchsafe
Next, add the webhook in the Vouchsafe dashboard. To do this:
- Go to your Vouchsafe customer dashboard.
- Select Settings from the dashboard sidebar.
- Scroll down to Webhook URL and select Expand.
- Paste the URL box and select Save changes.
Send Zapier an example request
For Zapier to know what data structure to expect, you need to send a verification request for Zapier to see. You can do this in the Vouchsafe dashboard:
- Open the Vouchsafe dashboard in a new browser tab or window.
- Select Verifications from the top of the Vouchsafe dashboard sidebar.
- Select the + Verify by email button.
- Add the email address of a trusted colleague in the Their email field of the New case popup. (Do not use a random email address, or the email address of an end user.)
- Enter some text in the Reason field. (This can be anything, but the email recipient will see it.)
- Select the Copy button under Your webhook URL.
Confirm request in Zapier
To finish setting up the integration:
- Return to your open Zapier browser tab or window.
- Select the Test Trigger button at the bottom of the Catch Hook section. You should see that a record A has been added and highlighted.
- Select the Continue with selected record button. You should now see a selector prompting you to choose an action.
Connect Zapier to Glide
Continuing in Zapier:
- Search for Glide in the on-screen selector, and choose it from the results.
- Select the Sign in button next to the Account field. You should now be prompted for the API key from your Zapier integration in your Glide settings.
Leave Zapier open in a browser tab or window.
Next, go to the Glide website and open the relevant app. Then:
- Select Settings at the top right of the screen.
- Select Integrations.
- Select Zapier under App Integrations. (This is where it will appear if you have already connected Glide to Zapier. If not, you can add it under Add Integrations.)
- Select Copy to clipboard next to API Key.
Returning to Zapier:
- Paste the API key into the field.
- Select the Yes, Continue to Glide button.
Glide’s help page about integrating with Zapier may be useful at this stage.
Configure the integration in Zapier
In Zapier, you can now configure the integration in the Select the event section. Here are some example steps of how you might like to do this:
- Select Choose the event under Action event in the Select the event section.
- Select Add Row from the on-screen popup.
- Select the Continue button in what is now the Add Row section.
- Select the App field and choose your Glide app from the pop-up.
Under Values, you can choose which Vouchsafe data you’d like to appear in your Glide app. To do this:
- Hit the + (plus) button in the right-hand field under Values.
- Select the datapoint you’d like to appear.
- Give the datapoint a name in the left-hand field.
You should now be seeing a screen like this:
To add another datapoint, select + Add value set and repeat.
When you’ve finished, select the Continue button.
You can choose any of these Vouchsafe data points:
- Email: The user’s email address
- ID: The user’s unique Vouchsafe ID number
- Status: The status of their verification
- Event: The action that can initiate a workflow. It can be one of three values: Created, Verified, or Refused
- CreatedAt: The exact time the verification was requested
- Redirect Url: Where to send the user on success, overriding the team-level default
- Verification Method: How the user is verifying their identity
Test and publish the integration
At this point, you can choose to test the integration in Zapier with the Test Step button.
When you’re ready, select the Publish button to complete the process.
Your Vouchsafe data should now appear in your Glide app. You can do another test verification in Vouchsafe to make sure.
And that’s it! You have successfully integrated Vouchsafe with Glide. 🎉
